Makoto Emura has extensive work experience in the fields of biodesign, aroma ingredients, and chemical research and development. From 2009 to present, Emura has held various roles at Takasago International Corporation, including Executive Director of Biodesign R&D and Executive Director of Aroma Ingredients R&D. Emura has also served as Director of Aroma Ingredients Business Strategy and Planning and Director of Aroma Chemical R&D at Takasago. Prior to joining Takasago, Emura worked as a Visiting Scientist at the Monell Chemical Senses Center from 2006 to 2009.

Makoto Emura obtained a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Science from Tokushima Bunri University, graduating in 1992.
