Abbas Lotia

Abbas Lotia is the Director of Engineering at Take Command. Prior to their current position, Abbas was a Product Manager and Native Apps Development Lead at Valent Partners from October 2019 to September 2020. Before that, they were the Product Owner and Software Solutions Manager at TSI - Triencon Services from May 2018 to October 2019, where they brought actionable definitions, requirements & technical solutions to broad stakeholder-defined use cases. Abbas has also created UX mockups for multiple B2B features for a SMART energy management web app and developed user stories, facilitated points estimation workshops, and created sprint-wise roadmaps for 5-person dev teams (including frontend, backend & IT resources). Abbas has also formalized processes for app deployments, manual feature testing & automated unit testing to bring consistency & reliability to the product's custom software delivery team. In their previous positions, Abbas has driven teams to adopt agile methodologies & SDLC practices to bring development efforts in line with project and business initiatives, make product delivery more manageable & open doors to productizing applications. Abbas splits their time 60% / 40% app dev / product management during build & test phases of SDLC. Technologies they are familiar with include React JS, WebAPI with C#, SQL Server, OSIsoft PI (time series database), and TFS 2018 with Git.

Abbas Lotia has a BBA from the Texas McCombs School of Business, a BA in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, and a BA in Arabic Language & Literature from the University of Texas at Austin. Abbas also has a certification from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in Digital Product Management: Modern Fundamentals and certifications from Amazon Web Services in AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate and Microsoft in MCTS .NET Framework 4, Data Access, MCTS .NET Framework 4, Service Communication Applications (WCF), and MCTS .NET Framework 4, Web Applications.
