Cobus Carstens

Cobus Carstens has a diverse work experience in the software development field. Cobus started their career as a Programmer at RedPoint Solutions Inc in 1999. Cobus then worked as a Software Engineer at SAN People from 2000 to 2002, followed by a role as a Software Specialist at SWiST Group Technologies from 2002 to 2005. Cobus then joined iThemba LABS as a Software Developer from 2005 to 2009. Cobus then worked as a Software Developer at Mira Networks from 2009 to 2014, where they gained valuable experience. Cobus then joined takealot.com as a Software Developer from 2014 to 2016. In 2016, they joined Praekelt Consulting as a Software Developer and later transitioned to the role of Systems Architect in 2018. Cobus continued at Praekelt Consulting until 2019 when they joined takealot.com as a Principal Engineer. Throughout their career, Cobus has worked on various projects and gained expertise in technologies such as Python, Docker, Swagger/OpenAPI, Django, and PostgreSQL.

Cobus Carstens holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Applied Mathematics from Stellenbosch University, which they obtained between 2006 and 2008. Cobus also completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics at Stellenbosch University from 1998 to 2000. In 2003 to 2004, Cobus pursued an Hons. B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika. In 2009, they obtained a Certificate in SMME Management from the same institution. Cobus further expanded their knowledge by obtaining certifications such as Architecting with Google Cloud Platform Specialization from Coursera in 2018, M101P: MongoDB for Developers from MongoDB, Inc. in 2015, and Text Retrieval and Search Engines from Coursera Verified Certificates in 2015.
