Tessa Ackermann

Tessa Ackermann is the Group CFO at Takealot. Prior to their current position, Ackermann was the Head of Finance at Takealot.com. Tessa was engaged by Takealot.com just prior to the merger with Kalahari.com, a transaction creating the largest e-commerce retailer in South Africa. Appointed to build out the finance function and processes, they defined a target operating model, culture and workflow post-merger. As a direct support to the CFO, they provided critical input the 5-year business plan, developing a robust finance function, operating model and reporting framework within a listed company environment.

Ackermann has also held positions as Financial Manager at Naartjie Kids Clothing and Audit Manager at KPMG.

Ackermann has overseen the integration of two finance teams, managed the change process and ensured staff retention. Tessa has also supported the business to achieve targeted EBITDA for five consecutive years and 9-fold growth. In addition, they established a commercial analyst capability retail to increase revenue contribution to the business.

Tessa Ackermann has a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town, a Bachelor of Business Science in Accounting & Finance also from the University of Cape Town, and they matriculated with distinction from Fairbairn College. Tessa is also certified from SAICA CA(SA).
