Michael Nelson

Michael Nelson is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in intellectual property law. Currently serving as Senior Counsel IP at Takeda since April 2021, Michael's prior roles include Counsel at WilmerHale, where responsibilities involved intellectual property counseling, prosecution, and litigation. Michael has also held positions as an Associate at Vinson & Elkins and Venable LLP, and served as a Judicial Law Clerk at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Michael's background includes experience as a Patent Agent at Venable LLP and a Patent Examiner at the USPTO, as well as scientific roles at the NIH Chemical Genomics Center and the National Cancer Institute. Michael holds a JD from Georgetown University Law Center and a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from The Ohio State University.
