Wassim Makarem

Wassim Makarem has extensive experience in the e-commerce industry, particularly in leading and managing the development and implementation of commercial and supply chain strategies. Wassim started their career at The Sultan Center, where they held several roles including Corporate Merchandise Division Manager and Group Marketing & E-Commerce Director. During their time there, they successfully developed and implemented the company's e-commerce channel and improved supply chain operations, resulting in increased store availability and reduced inventory.

In 2017, Wassim joined Talabat as the Managing Director, responsible for driving the growth and success of the company. Wassim later took on the role of Vice President Q-Commerce and Vice President Regional Market, where their main focus was on revolutionizing the way people shop through the development of a next-generation e-commerce network and enabling local commerce on demand. Wassim led a talented team across the MENA region and was proud to be a pioneer of q-commerce in the area.

Wassim Makarem holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the American University of Beirut, which they obtained from 1998 to 2003. Wassim then pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis on Strategic Management from the Maastricht School of Management, completing it from 2004 to 2009. In 2011, they attended the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad for a Retail Management Program. Prior to their university education, Wassim obtained a High School Degree from the International College (IC) from 1994 to 1998 and a Secondary Degree from the Lebanese Community School (LCS) from 1985 to 1994. Additionally, Wassim acquired certification as an APICS CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) from the LEORON Professional Development Institute in 2013 and as a PMP (Project Management Professional) from Infocenter Training & Consulting in 2012. Currently, they are attending INSEAD for a program on Strategy in the age of Digital Disruption in the year 2022.
