Ponnappa Palecanda has a diverse and extensive work experience in the technology industry. Ponnappa started their career as a Software Engineer at HP Enterprise Services in 1984 and worked there until 1990. During this time, they gained valuable experience in software engineering.

In 1993, Palecanda joined Hewlett Packard and worked as a Software Engineer. Here, they played a crucial role in defining the API for the Application Response Measurement (ARM) Working group. In 2002, Palecanda became an R&D Project Manager at HP. Ponnappa managed a team of engineers and oversaw the development of two ProCurve products based on BroadCom ASICs. Ponnappa also initiated and staffed an HP development team in Bangalore, India. Palecanda worked at HP until 2007.

From 2007 to 2010, Palecanda worked as an R&D Section Manager for HP Networking (ProCurve). Ponnappa established the team in India, which grew to 150 members with a low attrition rate. Ponnappa directly managed a section responsible for routing, switch management, and Layer 2 protocols. The team also assumed over 50% of all software development work for product releases.

Palecanda then transitioned to another role as an R&D Section Manager for HP Networking (SDN/OpenStack and HP's Open Architecture) from 2010 to 2015. Ponnappa played a crucial role in the organization's active engagement in OpenStack and Open Day Light (ODL) and steered the team to become active contributors to these communities. Ponnappa also helped define and plan for HP Networking's role in creating an architecture to enable features that the switch was deficient in but needed to incorporate with external solutions.

Since 2015, Palecanda has been working as a Software Engineer at Tallac Networks. Ponnappa is a vital member of the startup team that successfully developed and marketed a cloud management system for networking. Ponnappa'swork includes maintaining the cloud agent software and building a secure medicine dispensation system on an ESP32 based system.

Ponnappa Palecanda's education history begins in 1974 when they enrolled at The University of Agricultural Sciences, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. This program lasted until 1979.

After completing their undergraduate studies, Palecanda proceeded to West Texas A&M University from 1979 to 1981. There, they studied Management Information Systems and obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

Later, Palecanda attended Indiana University Bloomington from 1991 to 1993, where they focused on Computer Science and earned a Master of Science (M.Sc) degree.
