David has held various leadership roles in the healthcare sector, including Chief Information Officer at Tallaght University Hospital since February 2021 and Director of ICT at the same hospital from July 2015 to February 2021. Prior to that, they were the Head of ICT & Information Governance Lead at Temple St. Children's University Hospital from September 2001 to July 2015. David also served as the ICT Lead Satellite Centres at Children's Hospital Group from February 2015 to June 2015 and as an Applications Support Manager at St. Vincent's University Hospital from July 1997 to September 2001.

David also holds several certifications, including the ICS Leadership Development Programme from ICS Skills in 2015, the Certificate in Patient Safety from IHI in 2014, and the Certified Data Protection Practitioner from ICS Skills in 2006.

TUH is one of Ireland’s largest acute teaching hospitals, adult, psychiatric and age-related healthcare on one site. The Hospital has 495 adult beds with 3,000 people on staff. The Hospital is a provider of local, regional and national specialties. It is also a national urology centre, the second largest provider of dialysis services in the country, a national centre for Urology and pelvic and acetabular fractures. Robotic surgery started in 2020 and we have recently been designated as a Trauma Unit (one of two within the newly established trauma network). The Hospital also has 67 paediatric beds under the governance of Children’s Health Ireland and 52 mental health beds under HSE governance. TUH is one of the two main teaching hospitals of Trinity College Dublin - specialising in the training and professional development of staff in areas such as nursing, health and social care professionals, emergency medicine and surgery, amongst many others.
