Kelly Griffin has a diverse nursing background with significant experience in anaesthetics and theatre settings. Starting as a student nurse with HSE from 2009 to 2013, Kelly progressed to roles including staff nurse at Kerry General Hospital and theatre nurse at Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals, where responsibilities included scrub and anaesthetic nursing. Promotions to theatre sister and anaesthetic nurse followed, leading to a role as a community staff nurse at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. Subsequently, Kelly served as an anaesthetic nurse at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and as a bank nurse at Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals. Currently, Kelly holds the position of Clinical Nurse Manager 1 in Anaesthetics and Recovery at Tallaght University Hospital, overseeing a new day surgery unit.

TUH is one of Ireland’s largest acute teaching hospitals, adult, psychiatric and age-related healthcare on one site. The Hospital has 495 adult beds with 3,000 people on staff. The Hospital is a provider of local, regional and national specialties. It is also a national urology centre, the second largest provider of dialysis services in the country, a national centre for Urology and pelvic and acetabular fractures. Robotic surgery started in 2020 and we have recently been designated as a Trauma Unit (one of two within the newly established trauma network). The Hospital also has 67 paediatric beds under the governance of Children’s Health Ireland and 52 mental health beds under HSE governance. TUH is one of the two main teaching hospitals of Trinity College Dublin - specialising in the training and professional development of staff in areas such as nursing, health and social care professionals, emergency medicine and surgery, amongst many others.
