Tallaght University Hospital
Triona Murphy currently serves as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Surgical Site Surveillance and as a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 in Infection Prevention and Control at Tallaght University Hospital since September 1998. Murphy has also held the position of Senior Staff Nurse in Orthopaedics and Surgical Site Surveillance. In addition to clinical roles, Murphy has been the Honorary Secretary of the Adelaide Health Foundation since June 2010, contributing to health policy research and supporting nursing bursaries and health initiatives. Educational credentials include a Post Graduate Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (2021-2022) and a Diploma in General Nursing from St Vincent's University Hospital (1985-1988).

TUH is one of Ireland’s largest acute teaching hospitals, adult, psychiatric and age-related healthcare on one site. The Hospital has 495 adult beds with 3,000 people on staff. The Hospital is a provider of local, regional and national specialties. It is also a national urology centre, the second largest provider of dialysis services in the country, a national centre for Urology and pelvic and acetabular fractures. Robotic surgery started in 2020 and we have recently been designated as a Trauma Unit (one of two within the newly established trauma network). The Hospital also has 67 paediatric beds under the governance of Children’s Health Ireland and 52 mental health beds under HSE governance.
