Michael McClellan

Applied Physicist, Baseball R&d at Tampa Bay Rays

Michael McClellan, PhD, is an experienced analyst in baseball research and development, currently serving as Senior Baseball R&D Analyst for the Tampa Bay Rays since August 2018. Previously, Michael co-founded baseball toolBOX, a research initiative that applied analytical methods from atmospheric science and electrical engineering to baseball physics. Michael completed a PhD in Atmospheric Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where research focused on global change science, and contributed as the Graduate Student Council President. Additional roles include feature writing on baseball physics for Banished to the Pen and serving as a Research Associate in the Carleton College Department of Chemistry. Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Carleton College.
