Gurban Karimov MSc, CISA, CISSP, PMP, ITIL is an accomplished IT professional with extensive experience in managing IT operations within large organizations. Currently serving as IT Group Manager at TANAP Natural Gas Transmission Company since November 2013, Gurban oversees a team of 22 IT staff, ensuring comprehensive IT support, cybersecurity, and project management for over 700 end users across multiple locations. Previous roles include IT Manager at the same company, IT Auditor and System Administrator at the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Programmer/Analyst at DemirBank. Gurban holds advanced degrees in Information Systems, MBA-Finance, and is pursuing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence Technology. Additionally, Gurban has completed executive education in cybersecurity and participated in winter school focused on the ethics of neuroscience and AI.

The TANAP Project, along with the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) and the Trans - Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) which form the Southern Gas Corridor, aims to bring natural gas produced in Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz-2 gas field, and in the other areas of the Caspian Sea, to Turkey and on to Europe. TANAP will increase Turkey's natural gas supply security and diversify its supply sources, and open Azerbaijani gas to new markets while contributing to energy supply security and stability in the region.
