Harshad Patil

Mr. Harshad Patil is responsible for all investment activities and investment strategy. He brings to the table a unique blend of experience in managing equity and debt funds in various capacities for both insurance & mutual fund industry. He has extensive experience of over 20 years in a gamut of areas pertaining to investments such as fund management, research and dealing functions.

Harshad joined Tata AIA Life Insurance in 2006 as a Fund Manager and was elevated to the role of the CIO in Jan 2014. He has been instrumental in taking Tata AIA Life Insurance’s Investment portfolio from strength to strength. Under his guidance, Unit Linked Funds have outperformed the benchmark on a consistent basis and are highly rated by Morningstar.

Harshad has also developed an unique investment methodology of the High water mark funds in-house, making Tata AIA Life Insurance a pioneer in this fund category.

Harshad has worked extensively on optimizing ALM requirements and worked closely with banks to develop the forward rate agreement (FRA) suitable to the Indian markets which helps insurance companies hedge the interest rate risk. Under his guidance Tata AIA Life Insurance has become pioneer in interest rate hedging techniques by extensively using partly paid bonds, IRFs, STRIPS and FRA.

Harshad's prior assignment was with UTI Mutual Fund for over 7 years in various capacities linked to fund management and dealing.

Harshad holds a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Government College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) and a Masters Degree in Management Studies from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. Harshad also has a CFA certification to his credit.
