Jean Tormey is an accomplished curator with extensive experience in arts education and family programming. Currently serving as the Curator for the Early Years & Family Programme at Tate since January 2013, Tormey has taken on the role of acting Senior Curator on three occasions, focusing on strategic and collaborative initiatives that enhance visitor engagement across Tate's sites. Prior to this, Tormey curated the Schools & Family Programme at Whitechapel Gallery, where significant projects included Artist in Residence and Children’s Art Commission programs. Tormey has also held positions such as Education Curator at Butler Gallery, where fundraising efforts averaged €60,000 annually, and has previous curatorial experience at Tate and internships at renowned institutions including The Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Tormey holds a Certificate in Therapeutic Play from Leeds Beckett University, as well as a Master of Arts in Arts Management & Cultural Policy from University College Dublin and a Bachelor of Arts in History of Art & Architecture and French from Trinity College Dublin.
