David is retired from his career as a lawyer at Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell LLP (1975–2013). He served as a partner from 1983 to 2013 and as a member of the Executive Committee from 2006 to 2012.
David’s current professional and community activities include being a Trustee of the Grand Opera House, Delaware’s performing arts center; Director of Brandywine Baroque; Director of the Alapocas Maintenance Corporation; Junior warden and vestry member of Trinity Episcopal Parish; and Trustee of the 1916 Foundation. Previously, he has served as Director of the Tiedemann Trust Company and Trustee of the MBNA Foundation’s Education Grant Committee.
David has served on Tatnall’s Buildings and Grounds and Development committees, and during his prior service served on or chaired various committees including a Head of School Search Committee. He is a graduate of Emory University Law School (JD, with distinction, 1975) and Haverford College (BA 1970). His hobbies and interests include fly-fishing (fresh and saltwater), music (opera, choral music, piano), and travel.
David is married to Ann B. Hamilton, and their daughter Elizabeth graduated from Tatnall in 2019. David’s older children Aldwyn (Wendy) ’94 and Tom ’98 attended Tatnall as well.
