Vincent Watchorn Iii

Trustee at TATNALL SCHOOL INC

Vince Watchorn is in his fiftieth year of connection with Tatnall School and beginning his third iteration as a Tatnall trustee. Tatnall played a formative role in Vince's vision of education – he is a graduate, former faculty member, past Alumni Council president, and Alumni Service Award recipient of the school, where his father was mathematics department chair and his mother the alumni coordinator, and his two sisters are lifers who pursued careers in education. His student experience and his family's dedication to the school inspired his career path through a desire to provide for others the quality of education he was privileged to receive.

In large part due to his Tatnall student days, Vince has been engaged in strategic diversity work and community service. He has been a voice for forward movement in equity and inclusion through school strategy, trusteeship, curriculum development, and community standards. Additionally, Vince is president of the Friends of Cooch's Bridge Historical Site and a volunteer at Mt. Olive Cemetery. He is a trustee of Educational Resources Bureau and Penland School of Craft (NC); and a member of the REACH Riverside Education Committee and the Delaware Racial Justice Coalition.

Today, he is an independent leader with nearly thirty years of experience working directly with Boards of Trustees. He is a consultant to the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), a partner in the strategic diversity and inclusion firm Haakmat Consulting, and president of Watchorn Education LLC. He served as head of the Providence Country Day School (RI) for eight years. In all endeavors, he is wholly dedicated to fostering the potential of people and their organizations.
