David J. Shelby

A member of the Taylor Porter Executive Committee and General Counsel for the firm, Partner David J. Shelby II has 25 years of experience advising and representing clients on matters of construction, labor, employment, commercial contracts and disputes, premises liability, and personal injury defense. He received a Juris Doctor degree from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1993 and was admitted to practice in Louisiana that same year.

David has significant experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts, defending liability and indemnity claims arising from construction projects and contracts, and defending unfair labor practice and employment discrimination claims. He has defended complex multi-district litigation.

David’s clients include Dixie Electric Membership Corporation, Triad Electric, The Newtron Group, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Coastal Process, and Royal Engineering.

David is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts, in the United States District Courts for the Middle, Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Baton Rouge Bar Association.
