Derek O'Neal

Derek O'Neal, CICA, is a seasoned financial professional with extensive experience in capital strategy and financial analysis. Currently serving as a Senior Capital Strategist at TC Energy since June 2016, O'Neal oversees the preparation and delivery of a multi-billion dollar Capital Plan across three countries and acts as a subject matter expert for the CapEx Program. Previous roles include Project Controller at TC Energy, where budget forecasting and management for numerous projects were key responsibilities, and Corporate Accountant at Patriot Coal Corporation during bankruptcy proceedings, where O'Neal successfully increased revenue and cash flow. Additional experience includes a short-term project with Alcon, redesigning production control processes, and financial analysis at both the West Virginia Medical Institute and the West Virginia Legislative Post Audit Division, where fraud detection and audit leadership were emphasized. O'Neal holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from West Virginia University Institute of Technology.
