Matthew Smith

Matthew S. currently serves as the Director of Industrial Power and Data at Carbice since November 2023. Matthew co-founded TCPoly, Inc. in May 2017, and previously held the position of Innovation Fellow at Oak Ridge National Labs through Innovation Crossroads from May 2018 to January 2021. Prior experience includes a role as a Graduate Research Assistant at Georgia Institute of Technology from August 2012 to June 2017, with additional fellowships including TI:GER and NSF IGERT. A research internship was completed at Nokia Bell Labs in 2016, and earlier roles include Solar Energy Research Assistant at Portland State University and Research Intern with the National Science Foundation. Matthew holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, alongside a BS in Renewable Energy Engineering from Oregon Institute of Technology and a BA in Economics with a Math minor from Wake Forest University.
