Amber Bill

Amber Bill currently serves as the Assistant Commissioner at Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission since September 2025. Prior to this role, Amber was the Director of Forestry Operations at the Ministry for Primary Industries from November 2024 to September 2025 and held positions at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, New Zealand, where roles included Chief of Staff and Executive Director from March 2023 to November 2024. Amber's extensive experience in conservation and environmental management includes serving as Director at the Department of Conservation from November 2017 to March 2023 and as the Head of System Assurance for the Covid-19 Group at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet from May 2021 to November 2022. Earlier roles also include managerial and planning positions within Wellington City Council and the Department of Conservation. Amber holds a Postgraduate Diploma of Science with Distinction in Ecology and Conservation from the University of Otago and a Bachelor’s Degree in Ecology and Psychology from Victoria University of Wellington.
