Sean Marsland has extensive experience in the tea industry, currently serving as President of Spire Tea Inc. since April 2005 and as a Certified Tea Sommelier with the Tea Association of Canada since September 2012, where co-authorship of the Tea Sommelier Course Manuals is notable. Prior roles include Tea Taster at Spire Tea from 2005 to April 2024, President of ITEACO from March 2002 to July 2005, and Vice President of Sales at CPNA in New York from September 1999 to March 2002. Sean Marsland began the career in the tea sector at Holliday and Scandrett International, rising from a Tea Trainee to a Tea Trader. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Western University and an Integrated Branding Certificate from the Canadian Marketing Association.

Established in 1954, as the Canadian Tea Council with the founding countries of Sri Lanka and India, the council carried the role of promoting tea consumption to Canadians. Today, as the Tea and Herbal Association of Canada, we are a not-for-profit association representing the entire tea industry in Canada from the bush to the cup.
