James Barkley is an experienced educator and professional with a diverse background in teaching, tutoring, and operations. Currently serving as an Ignite Fellow SAT Test Prep Tutor for Teach For America, James focuses on supporting high school students in preparing for the SAT. Prior experience includes roles as a Corps Member with training in DEI, SEL, and UDL teaching practices, and a Preferred Building Substitute Teacher at Rye City School District, where responsibilities included serving as a primary classroom teacher and working with students with special needs. Additional experience spans various roles in service and operations, including positions at Carnegie Mellon University as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant, as well as roles at Racial Equity Partners and BNY Mellon. James holds a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University and is a graduate of The Hotchkiss School.
