Dr. Amelia Herrera-Nakamura

Dr. Amelia Herrera-Nakamura serves as a part-time lecturer at California State University, Stanislaus, where instruction focuses on reading and writing for students pursuing a bilingual credential. Dr. Herrera-Nakamura is also a California Education Policy Fellow with Teach Plus, aiming to influence educational policy through the perspectives of teacher leaders. With extensive experience as a teacher and counselor in Modesto City Schools since 2009, and as a developer for New Colossus Academy, Dr. Herrera-Nakamura is committed to fostering a nurturing, socially just, and equitable educational environment. Dr. Herrera-Nakamura holds a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from California State University, Stanislaus and possesses multiple degrees in education, English, and Hispanic and Latin American languages from California State University, Fresno, and San Francisco State University.
