Deval Patel

Deval Patel currently serves as General Manager, Small Business at Gen, a position held since June 2025. Prior to this, Patel was VP of Product and Operations and Head of Product, Finance at Teamshares from 2022 to 2025. Previous roles include Product Lead and Product Manager at Square from 2014 to October 2022 and Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurial Finance at the University of San Francisco from 2017 to 2019. Early career experiences include working as an Associate in State and Local Tax / M&A at KPMG from 2011 to 2014, a Law Clerk in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel's SBSE Division from 2012 to 2013, and a Pro Bono Fellow with the South Asian Bar Association of Northern California from 2011 to 2012. Deval Patel holds a JD in Taxation from Santa Clara University School of Law, as well as an MBA in Accounting and Finance and a BBA in Accounting from East Texas A&M University.
