Charlie Gruenwald

Charlie Gruenwald, PhD, currently serves as a Principal Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS), focusing on high-performance computing applications for large-scale cloud operations since June 2021. As Managing Partner at TechAscent, LLC since February 2018, Charlie develops user-friendly software solutions tailored to diverse business needs. Previously, as Principal Engineer at Barracuda, Charlie was instrumental in building resilient cloud-native systems utilizing ElasticSearch. Charlie co-founded ThinkTopic, where leadership spanned multiple engineering teams and projects centered on machine learning. With earlier roles that include Senior Software Engineer at InboxApp, Researcher at MIT's CSAIL, and extensive software engineering experience at Boulder Labs, Charlie's academic background features a PhD in Computer Science from MIT and a combined BS/MS in Computer Science from the University of Colorado Boulder.
