David Johnston

David Johnston has been a director at Union Bank since September 2019. In this role, they have led a $4.6M project to integrate technology operations across five legal entities operating in complex technical and regulatory environments. David has also worked closely with the C-level teams to define business objectives and address legal and operational challenges. In addition, David has managed the communication and reporting on project progress, including providing regular reports to the senior leadership teams.

Most recently, David has been working on building a platform for to allow Risk Management teams to share data in a controlled environment. This has included designing and implementing unified standards for identity data, networking, Data Access controls, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) monitoring. David has also ensured a smooth transition to the new platform by carefully managing information flows, timing the publication of new standards, and fostering collaborative efforts across the enterprise. Additionally, David built an interim helpdesk to coordinate inter-entity work during the initial phase of the project. This four-man team created standard workflows that executed by the main helpdesk during subsequent phases.

Prior to joining Union Bank, David was the Principal, Product & Technology at TechCXO. In this role, they were responsible for leading a team of product managers and engineers in developing and executing the product roadmap. David also worked closely with customers, sales, and marketing to ensure that the products delivered were aligned with customer needs and market trends.

Johnston earned a BA in Spanish Language and Literature from Davidson College.
