Alya Alhammadi is a PhD candidate at the University of Nottingham, focusing on recycling metal alloy scrap for Laser Powder Bed Fusion to promote sustainability in additive manufacturing. With experience as a Senior Engineer at the Technology Innovation Institute, Alya specializes in metal additive manufacturing, investigating process-structure-property relationships. Participation in the WiSER Pioneer program at Masdar provided insights into empowering women in STEM and achieving Sustainable Development Goals. Alya has also engaged in leadership programs such as the Young Future Energy Leader initiative at Khalifa University and has served as a Graduate Research/Teaching Assistant at Khalifa University. Previous experience includes research on third generation photovoltaics at the University of Sharjah and an internship focused on electric power systems at Masdar Institute of Science and Technology. Alya holds a PhD in Materials Engineering and Materials Design from the University of Nottingham, a Master's in Mechanical Engineering from Khalifa University, and a Bachelor's in Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering from the University of Sharjah.
