Ian Poynter

Ian Poynter is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in cybersecurity and mentoring. Currently serving as a Member of the Board of Advisors at Humma.AI and a Techstars Mentor, Ian also contributes as a Community Builder for TechYeet and holds the position of CEO/vCISO at Kalahari Security. Prior to semi-retirement, Ian provided Virtual Chief Information Security Officer services to various startups and mid-tier organizations. As a Core Member of Underscore VC and a Network Advisor for TEDCO, Ian actively engages in supporting early-stage entrepreneurs and enhancing the Maryland tech ecosystem. Additional involvement includes membership in InfraGard, mentoring for the Cyversity Mentorship Program, and previously serving as Chapter President of the ISC2 Charleston Chapter. Ian holds a BSc in Computer Science from UCL and has mentored startups in cybersecurity through the IoT Tribe program.
