George Ball is a Director and Executive Co-Chairman of Tectonic Financial. He has also served as Chairman of Sanders Morris Harris since 1992. He was the primary architect of the firm’s successful acquisition of a majority interest in Edelman Financial Services, Salient Partners and numerous other wealth management firms. Under his leadership, through organic growth and acquisitions, Sanders Morris Harris's assets under management grew from $3 billion to $18 billion, distributing $1.2 billion to the firm's owners.
George began his career at E.F. Hutton & Co., then one of the largest financial services companies in the country, as a stockbroker. He became Regional Vice President, Director of Research and later National Sales Manager before being named President at age 39. He left E.F. Hutton to become Chief Executive Officer of Bache & Co., which had been purchased by Prudential Insurance Co. of America, and served as a member of the Executive Office of Prudential.
George is a former governor of the American Stock Exchange and the Chicago Board Options Exchange, and served on the Executive Committee of the Securities Industries Association.
He has been a director of numerous public/private companies including Waste Management and American Ecology, and served on the boards of a variety of charitable organizations.
He is a graduate of Brown University with honors in economics and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He appears frequently on financial news programs, as well as a columnist for financial publications.
