Steve Sommers is an accomplished professional with extensive experience across various industries. As the Executive Director of TEDxStLouis since June 2011, Steve has focused on fostering an inclusive community of thought leaders to enhance St. Louis. Prior roles include Project Developer at StraightUp Solar, contributing to significant advancements in renewable energy, and a Leadership Team Board Member at Singularity University, where the emphasis was on leveraging exponential technologies for global challenges. With a strong entrepreneurial background, Steve founded several companies, including InProducts LLC, The Phoenix Group, LLC, Executive Travel, and ePurchasingAgent. Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Management from Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading,” the TEDx program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. We use the TED format to build a connected community of learners and change-agents in St. Louis. Our mission is to create an inclusive & equitable community of thought leaders in the St. Louis region. We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world. Our community will build a clearinghouse of free knowledge from the region’s most inspired thinkers — and a consortium of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other, both online and at TEDx events all year long.
