Avril Bezant

Avril Bezant has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Avril currently works at the Telethon Kids Institute, starting in 2018. Avril'sroles within the institute include Data Co-Ordinator, Co-Manager of Satellite Site Telethon Kids Institute Joondalup, Data Officer, and Research Assistant. In these positions, Avril is involved in data cleaning, instrument development, participant interaction, record-keeping, scheduling appointments, and sample collection.

Avril also held various roles at other organizations. Avril served as the Secretary for the Golden Key International Honour Society from 2020 to 2021. At the ECU Nutrition Hub, they were the Treasurer from 2018 to 2019. Avril was a Campus Support Officer at Edith Cowan University from 2018 to 2019.

Avril has a passion for cooking and nutrition. Avril was a Jamie Oliver's Learn your Fruit and Vegetable Facilitator and a Food Trainer, where they taught hands-on cooking skills to young people. After completing their degree in 2000, they furthered their education at Edith Cowan University from 2002 to 2005, earning a Bachelor of Hospitality Management in the field of Hospitality Management.

Avril's passion for health and science led their to pursue an additional degree at Edith Cowan University. From 2014 to 2019, they obtained a Bachelor of Health Science with a specialization in Nutrition Bioscience. During this time, they gained valuable knowledge in the field of nutrition.

To further enhance their skills in the healthcare industry, Avril obtained several certifications. In 2017, they earned a St John's First Aid certificate from St John Ambulance (WA) and a Bone Densitometry Operators Course Certificate from Medical and Scientific Services Pty Ltd. In 2019, they obtained a Working with Children Check from The Government of Western Australia and a Good Clinical Practice certification from the Western Australian Health Translation Network. Additionally, in October 2019, Avril became a certified Mental Health First Aider through Mental Health First Aid Australia.

Building on their previous education, Avril is currently continuing their studies at Edith Cowan University, pursuing a Masters of Bioinformatics, specializing in the field of Bioinformatics. This program, which began in 2020, will provide their with in-depth knowledge and skills in the area of bioinformatics.
