Don Heng has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple companies and roles. Don started their career in 2002 at the SingHealth Experimental Medicine Centre as a Research Technician, where they provided technical support in experimental surgery, research animals, and tissue culture.
In 2003, they joined the National University of Singapore as a Team Leader for the Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) Animal Facility, overseeing its operations until 2008.
From 2008 to 2014, Don worked at the Duke-NUS Medical School Singapore, first as the Manager of Safety, Health, and Emergency Management, and later as the Manager of Research Operations, responsible for technical support, maintenance, supply store, and procurement.
In 2016, they joined the University of South Australia as a Technical Officer in the Research and Innovation Services department, where they played a role until 2018.
Currently, Don Heng serves as the Laboratory Facilities Officer at the Telethon Kids Institute, starting in 2018. This role involves managing the laboratory facilities and ensuring their smooth operation.

In 2004-2005, Don Heng attended Curtin University and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biotechnology.
In 2007-2010, Don Heng attended Nanyang Technological University Singapore and obtained a Master's Degree in Life Sciences.
In 2016-2017, Don Heng attended TAFE SA and obtained a Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety.
In terms of additional certifications, Don Heng obtained the following: First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training from CDB College in 2016, Biosafety Coordinator certification in "Biosafety Principles" and "Practices & Biosafety Management" from the Asia-Pacific Biosafety Association (A-PBA) in 2015, OHSAS 18001:2007 Lead Auditor certification from SGS Testing & Control Services Singapore Pte Ltd in 2015, Laboratory Animal Technologist Certification (LATG) from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science in 2008, Laboratory Animal Technician Certification (LAT) from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science in 2006, and Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician Certification (ALAT) from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science in 2004.
