Research Assistant - The Origins Project Biobank at Telethon Kids Institute

James L. has a diverse work experience spanning various research and laboratory roles. James started their career as a Medical Laboratory Technician at Australian Clinical Labs in 2010, where they were responsible for receiving and dispatching specimens for testing. James then worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at St John of God Health Care, focusing on cancer research from 2011 to 2013.

In 2013, James joined The University of Western Australia as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they handled and processed biological specimens, performed DNA and RNA extractions, and maintained laboratory stock solutions and reagents. James continued their research career at the university as a Research Assistant from 2017 to 2019.

In 2018, James took on the roles of Research Assistant at the Telethon Kids Institute's ORIGINS Project Biobank and Scientific Officer at Genomics WA. At the ORIGINS Project Biobank, they contributed to the largest study of its kind in Australia, collecting detailed information on how a child's early environment and parents' physical health and genetics influence the risk of various diseases and conditions. At Genomics WA, they provided cutting-edge genomics and data analysis services to researchers.

Throughout their career, James has demonstrated expertise in laboratory techniques, DNA and RNA extractions, and data analysis services.

James L. began their education in 2000 at Singapore Polytechnic, where they completed a Diploma in Biotechnology (Medical Technology) from 2000 to 2003. James then pursued further education at The University of Western Australia, where they obtained a Bachelor of Biomedical Science, specializing in Microbiology and Pathology, from 2006 to 2007. Following their undergraduate studies, James L. continued their education at The University of Western Australia, completing a Master of Infectious Diseases, with a focus on Tropical Infectious Diseases, from 2008 to 2009.
