Telethon Kids Institute
Nicole Wickens has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and industries. Nicole started their career as a First Aid Instructor and Health Promotion Advisor in a volunteer placement program in Cambodia. Later, they worked as a Rural Program Tutor for Teach Learn Grow, providing one-on-one tuition to disadvantaged indigenous children. Nicole also gained experience as an Intern at Women's Health and Family Services, focusing on the Nurturing Families program in the alcohol and drug sector.
Nicole's interest in research led their to become a Placement Student at the Telethon Kids Institute, where they worked on a project investigating outdoor food advertisements around Perth schools. Nicole then pursued an Honours Research Student role at Royal Life Saving - Western Australia, focusing on parental supervisory behaviors and knowledge of the Watch Around Water program.
Nicole continued their research career as a Research Assistant at Edith Cowan University, working on a project related to the health of Family Day Care environments. Subsequently, they held various roles at Telethon Kids Institute, including Research Administrator, Project Officer, and currently, Project Coordinator.
Throughout their work experience, Nicole has gained valuable skills in conducting literature reviews, data collection and analysis, and using software like PowerPoint and Microsoft Word. Nicole has also demonstrated their ability to provide excellent customer service and handle customer complaints during their time as a Customer Service Representative at Jim Kidd Sports.
Nicole Wickens completed their education in a chronological order. In 2015, they enrolled at Edith Cowan University and pursued a Bachelor of Health Science degree in Health Promotion and Addiction Studies. Nicole successfully completed this program in 2018. In 2019, Nicole attended Edith Cowan University again and obtained a Bachelor of Health Science Honours degree. The field of study for their Honours degree is not specified. Additionally, in March 2023, Nicole obtained a certification in Mental Health First Aid from Mental Health First Aid® Australia.
