Duncan Wales is the current CEO and founder of Tellimer. Prior to this, they were the Group CEO at Exotix Capital from 2016-2020, where they oversaw the Developing Markets investment bank. In 2020, they sold the broking business to StoneX.
From 2008-2015, Duncan was the Group General Counsel at ICAP plc, where they were a member of the firm's Global Executive committee (GEMG) and an adviser to the ICAP plc CEO and board. Duncan led M&A, new business and investment, plc related matters, business advisory and strategy, regulatory matters and investigations. Duncan also built and managed the Legal Department and Government Relations functions. Prior to this role, they oversaw the Risk function.
Duncan began their career in 1995 as a solicitor at Clifford Chance. In 2001, they became the Director of Legal Affairs at BrokerTec, where they were part of the small original management team that established the BrokerTec platform as an innovative “dot.com” start-up for global electronic trading of G7 public debt. The company was sold to ICAP in 2003 and is now part of the Nex Group, which was acquired by CME Group in 2018.
Duncan Wales studied at the University of Cambridge, where they obtained their Master of Arts in Social and Political Sciences. Duncan also holds certification from The University of Law in the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course, as well as from KPMG UK in the First Cohort of KPMG "C-Suite" executive development programme.
