Derrick Dockery

Derrick Dockery was elected to the board in January 2022. Mr. Dockery is a government relations and public affairs professional for TikTok, a leading global entertainment and technology company. He is responsible for outreach to the U. S. Congress, civil society, and industry stakeholders regarding a host of technology and other issues pertaining to the company. He also works with TikTok’s corporate social responsibility and partnership teams identifying initiatives that align with its focus of supporting its communities and making a positive impact.

Prior to his current role at TikTok, Mr. Dockery worked on Capitol Hill for Congressional House leadership. He served as the Director of Business and Intergovernmental Coalitions for the Speaker of the House. In this role, he led and developed stakeholder engagement strategies and cultivated critical relationships for a myriad of policy issues that paved the way for enacting key policy and legislation dealing with tax, national security and defense, technology, and other fundamental policy matters. Before joining the Speaker’s staff, Mr. Dockery worked on the House Committee of Oversight and Reform and Budget congressional committees.

Before embarking on a career on Capitol Hill and government relations, Mr. Dockery had a career in the National Football League for ten years. Mr. Dockery co-founded Yellow Ribbons United with his wife, Emma, a military support initiative dedicated to serving military children and families.

Mr. Dockery received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas, and an MBA from George Washington University. Mr. Dockery is a Texas native and currently resides in Northern Virginia with his wife and three children.
