Jun Wei Pek has had a diverse work experience in various research and academic institutions. Jun Wei is currently an Editorial Board Member at Communications Biology journal since April 2020. Previously, they worked as a Principal Investigator and Young Investigator at Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory from November 2014 to March 2018. Jun Wei also served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore from July 2018 onwards. Jun Wei Pek has also been a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellow and Carnegie Collaborative Fellow at the Carnegie Institution for Science, Department of Embryology from August 2013 to July 2014. Jun Wei started their career as a Junior Research Fellow and Honour Project participant at Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory from May 2007 to April 2012. Additionally, they have gained research experience through an Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROPS) at the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN) from August 2006 to May 2007, and as a Summer intern at Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory in 2006.
Jun Wei Pek completed their education with a Ph.D. in Cell & Developmental Biology, Genetics from the National University of Singapore in 2011. Prior to that, they obtained a B.Sc. (Hons) in Life Sciences with a concentration in molecular & cell biology from the same university in 2008. Before their university studies, Jun Wei Pek completed their A Levels at Anderson Junior College from 2000 to 2002. Jun Wei received their O Levels from Montfort Secondary School from 1996 to 1999, and their primary education, known as PSLE, was completed at Montfort Junior School from 1990 to 1995.
