General Counsel at Tempus Ex

David Cohen has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. David currently serves as the General Counsel at Tempus Ex, a sports technology startup that specializes in building 3D data models of sporting events. In this role, they have built the legal function, established people operations infrastructure, and implemented an insurance program.

Prior to their current position, David founded Major League Business LLC, a startup management consulting entity that provides strategic advice to startups, sports entities, and non-profit companies. David managed the P&L, operations, and administration of the company, working with clients such as a Major League Baseball team, a minor league soccer team, a non-profit professional organization, and a technology startup.

David also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the United States Association of Blind Athletes, a Colorado-based non-profit organization that provides sports opportunities for individuals with visual impairments.

In their previous roles, David held the position of Head of Player Operations at the Alliance of American Football, where they oversaw a budget of $6 million and managed a department of 175 people. David played a key role in launching the start-up football league, achieving significant fan attendance and app store popularity.

Before that, David worked as the General Counsel for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, supporting the day-to-day operations of the NFL team and managing a team of legal and support staff.

David's earlier experience includes serving as the Director of Legal Affairs and Risk Management for the Los Angeles Angels and as an Intern Minor League Athletic Trainer for the Baltimore Orioles. David also held positions as a Minor League Athletic Trainer for the Boston Red Sox, Montreal Expos, and Baltimore Orioles.

Throughout their career, David has demonstrated strong leadership, business acumen, and the ability to build and develop teams.

David Cohen has a well-rounded education history. David obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology and Athletic Training from West Virginia University, where they studied from 1991 to 1995. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Community Health Education at the same university, completing the program from 1996 to 2001.

Continuing their academic journey, David attended the California Western School of Law from 2002 to 2004, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree specializing in Law. In their earlier years, they completed their secondary education at the Boys Latin School of Maryland from 1984 to 1991.

In addition to their formal degrees, David also holds several certifications. David became a Certified Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification in 1996. Subsequently, they passed the California State Bar Exam in 2005, becoming an Attorney licensed to practice law in the state. David was also admitted to the United States District Court - Central District of California in 2006 and the United States Court of Appeals - 11th Circuit in 2014. Most recently, David obtained an Alpine Certification Level 1 from the PSIA-AASI Professional Ski Instructors of America - American Association of Snowboard Instructors in January 2023.
