Ze Cheng is currently a Principal Scientist at Tenaya Therapeutics, where they lead AAV capsid engineering efforts to discover novel capsids that can target different organs and cell types through various routes of administration. Prior to this role, they established Tenaya's in-house AAV capsid engineering platform as a Scientist II and conducted extensive research at UC Berkeley as a Ph.D. student. Their research focused on mRNA, translation, and protein changes in ribosomal protein mutants in yeast, as well as genome-wide measurements during meiotic differentiation. Additionally, Ze achieved reliable conditional gene knockout in C. elegans as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Science.
