Tenderloin Housing Clinic (THC) is a non-profit housing, support services, legal, and advocacy organization. THC provides housing and comprehensive services that help disenfranchised low-income people in San Francisco increase stability. THC provides supportive housing to formerly homeless single adults, many of which have mental health, medical and/or substance abuse issues. We believe in Housing First – essentially that a homeless person’s first and primary need is for a roof over their head. Other issues that may affect them, and that might affect their housing, can more easily be addressed after they are housed. In other words, everyone has a right to a home, regardless of any other issues they might have. We house over 2,300 tenants in 21 single room occupancy hotels and 1 owned apartment building. All tenants can engage in our voluntary on-site case management services. Our primary goals are to get and keep people housed. In addition to our supportive housing programs, THC provides a variety of other services including: * Money Management: THC provides innovative approaches to money management and third party rental payment through our Modified Payment Program. * Legal Services: THC is the premier provider of Ellis Act eviction defense in San Francisco. We also represent tenants in other housing related matters. * Community Organizing: THC organizes SRO tenants in the Tenderloin and South of Market to advocate for better living conditions, increased public safety and other quality of life issues that affect people with low-incomes.
