Kenneth (KC) Carnes has an extensive work experience in the field of cybersecurity and information technology. Kenneth (KC) is currently working as the VP Cybersecurity & CISO at Tennessee Valley Authority since August 2023. Prior to this, they were the Director of TVA Cybersecurity at the same organization from September 2020 to August 2023. Before joining TVA, Kenneth worked at New York Power Authority as the VP Critical Secure Services & CISO from October 2018 to September 2020, and as the VP & Chief Information Security Officer from January 2017 to October 2018. Kenneth also has experience as an Adjunct Instructor at Metropolitan Community College from January 2009 to January 2011, and as a Software Engineer at LAB-Interlink from December 1999 to December 2000. Kenneth (KC) started their career as a Cooperative Education Student at Nebraska Public Power District from May 1997 to December 1999.

Kenneth (KC) Carnes holds an MBA degree in MBA from Bellevue University, which they completed from 2002 to 2005. Kenneth (KC) also has a BS in Computer Science from Peru State College, completed from 1998 to 1999. In addition, they attended Midland University from 1995 to 1997, where they studied Computer Science without obtaining a degree. Kenneth (KC) Carnes has also obtained the Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM) certification from ISACA in 2015.
