Saumik Biswas, PhD has a diverse work experience that spans various roles and responsibilities. Currently, they are the Chief Executive Officer, President, and Founder of Tenomix Inc., where they lead a team in developing novel technologies that improve the pathology workflow, optimize cancer care, and reduce healthcare costs. Specifically, they are working on a flagship device that autonomously searches for lymph nodes in resected cancer tissues, improving the speed and reliability of the cancer staging process.
Prior to their current role, Saumik worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and a Research Associate at Western University. During this time, they conducted experiments contributing to their graduate research work and contributed to a patent filing in the field of diabetic retinopathy. Saumik also engaged several licensing partners and submitted two manuscripts.
Saumik also gained experience as a Medical Innovation Fellow at WORLDiscoveries, where they worked in an interdisciplinary team focused on developing commercial opportunities within the medical industry. Additionally, they worked as a Graduate Research Student at Western University, specializing in the study of long non-coding RNAs, histone methylation, histone acetylation, DNA methylation, and microRNAs in diabetic complications. Saumik Biswas, PhD, has an extensive education history. Saumik completed their Ph.D. in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Western University from 2015 to 2020. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Medical Sciences from Brock University, where they studied from 2011 to 2015. Saumik completed their high school education at Laura Secord Secondary School in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, from 2008 to 2011.
In addition to their academic degrees, Saumik has also pursued various certifications. In 2022, they obtained the Business Development Skills Program certification from the Ontario Bioscience Innovation Organization.
