Rama Prasad Ph.D.

Rama Prasad Ph.D. has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Rama is the founder of Teqnizan, a company that focuses on productivity and music devices incorporating sensors, voice, and AI. Rama has obtained utility patents and copyrights for the circuit architecture and acoustic design of Teqnizan's devices.

In addition to their entrepreneurial endeavors, Rama has held various positions at different organizations. Rama served as a co-organizer and session chair at IoT Fuse, where they contributed to the organization's events and conferences related to Internet of Things technologies.

Rama also worked at the University of Minnesota as a Graduate Faculty within the Technology Leadership Institute. Rama taught master-level courses in the Medical Device Innovation department, specializing in pivotal technologies, technology foresight, and forecasting. Rama also provided guidance and advice to students on their Capstone projects.

Prior to their teaching role, Rama worked as a Strategic Innovation Consultant at Ativa Medical. Rama was involved in building compelling business cases for fundamental intellectual property concepts in the field of point-of-care molecular diagnostics.

Rama has also been involved in technology startups. At Cornell University, they were the prime mover of Xallent LLC, a nanoscale characterization technology startup. Rama transformed the company from an academic publication to a funded business plan, conducting extensive market analysis and identifying unique value propositions in the semiconductor and IC characterization industry.

Before that, Rama worked at Honeywell as a Senior Technology Manager in the Advanced Materials and Systems division. Rama led a team of technical experts and researchers, developing eight technologies that had a significant impact on areas such as smart personal protective equipment, medical flow sensing, and industrial gas sensing. These programs' total 5-year net present value exceeded several hundred million dollars.

Rama's earlier experience includes working at Microvision, where they were responsible for program management and quality assurance of the world's first laser light source pico-projector Integrated Photonics Module. Rama managed global teams and oversaw product design, manufacturing line setup, and optimization.

Their earliest work experience was at HP, where they held various roles in research and development engineering and program management. Rama contributed to thermal inkjet printhead design and integration, and later managed a team of engineers and a budget for inkjet printer mechanical subsystems.

Rama Prasad, Ph.D., obtained a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, from 1986 to 1990. Following that, they pursued a Ph.D. in MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) at Cornell University, from 1990 to 1996. Apart from their formal education, Rama Prasad has also completed various additional certifications to enhance their knowledge and skills. Some of these certifications include a Hardware Manufacturing accelerator from Rev: Ithaca Startup Works in September 2022, a Hyper Accelerator startups program from INSEAD Alumni USA in January 2022, and a Lunar startups program from Lunar Startups in September 2021. Rama Prasad also attained a Blueprint digital workshop completion certificate from Blueprint in April 2020. In June 2018, they completed the Self Launch program offered by CAPITA3 Self Launch™.
