Peter May-Ostendorp has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Peter is currently the Director of Construction Software Engineering at Terabase Energy, where they lead the design and engineering of tools to lower the cost of utility-scale solar power. Prior to that, they co-founded XeroHome and served as the CTO, overseeing the development of a predictive energy upgrade recommendation platform for single-family homes.
Before XeroHome, Peter founded and led Xergy Consulting, assembling a team of energy experts to provide clients with energy modeling and data science services. Peter has also worked as a Strategic Advisor at Yonomi, a Fellow at Insight Data Science, and a Co-founder and technical advisor at Q Coefficient.
Peter's previous experience includes serving as a Principal Investigator at Ecova, where they led research projects on energy efficiency policy and emerging technologies. Peter has also worked as a PhD candidate and research assistant at the University of Colorado at Boulder, investigating model predictive control strategies for buildings.
Additionally, Peter has worked as a researcher at Tendril, providing technical due diligence evaluation for acquisitions and securing public R&D funding in the smart grid space. Peter started their career at Ecos Consulting, where they managed projects and personnel in a research and policy consulting practice, providing technical support to energy efficiency programs.
Throughout their career, Peter has demonstrated expertise in areas such as software engineering, data science, energy modeling, and research. Peter has cultivated key partnerships and applied machine learning techniques to drive innovation in the energy industry.
Peter May-Ostendorp received their education in the field of engineering. Peter obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College in 2003. Peter then pursued further studies at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from 2003 to 2004. Later, they attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where they completed their Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering from 2008 to 2012.
