Jin Yu

Jin Yu, PhD, has extensive work experience in the field of machine learning. Beginning in 2023, Jin served as the Head of Machine Learning at Teradyne. Concurrently, they also worked as a part-time faculty member at Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University.

Prior to these roles, Jin held various positions at Signify, starting in 2016. They served as the Director of Machine Learning, where they worked on generative AI, health monitoring, and smart building solutions. Before that, Jin was the IoT Data Analytics Team Lead, focusing on space management, lighting system diagnoses, and context-aware lighting systems. They also worked as a Senior Scientist during their time at Signify.

Before joining Signify, Jin worked as a System Architect for Dynamic Lighting at Acuity Brands in 2015 and as a Firmware Engineer Lead at Philips from 2012 to 2015.

Jin's earlier experience includes positions at Xperi Inc. as a Principal DSP Engineer, Senior DSP Engineer, and DSP Engineer from 2008 to 2012, as well as an Adjunct Professor at Stevens Institute of Technology from 2007 to 2009. They also worked as a Wireless Engineer at BVSystems from 2005 to 2008.

Jin Yu, PhD, has a strong educational background in electrical and computer engineering. In 2005, Jin obtained a PhD degree from the Stevens Institute of Technology. Jin then pursued non-degree coursework in computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2018 to 2021. Prior to that, Jin completed a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Wuhan University in 1998. In addition to academic achievements, Jin also obtained a certification in Management Executive Education, specifically in artificial intelligence, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2017.
