David Shurtliff has over 30 years of experience in the IT industry. David began their career in 1990 as a Computer Systems Specialist at the Defense Technical Information Center, where they designed and implemented a Windows NT 3.5 domain directory structure. In 1995, they moved to the NIH Center for Information Technology/DCRT as a Computer Systems Specialist, managing an 8,000+ seat, 24x7 Microsoft Exchange 5.0 and 5.5 messaging environment. In 1999, they joined Howrey LLP as a Systems Engineer, providing Microsoft Windows NT domain infrastructure and Exchange 5.5 server engineering and operations support. David then moved to BroadBand Office in 2000 as a Senior Systems Engineer, designing and deploying the company's Hosted Microsoft Exchange product. In 2014, they joined Amazon Web Services as a Solutions Architect, and in 2016 they moved to Booz Allen Hamilton in the same role. In 2017, they joined Cloudability as Director of FinOps Practice Management and Cloud FinOps Principal. David is currently the Head of Partner and Customer Success at Ternary Inc., a role they have held since 2021.

David Shurtliff's education history includes a Master of Science in Information Systems from George Mason University, obtained in 1997; a Bachelor of Science in Decision Sciences (Management Information Systems) from George Mason University, obtained in 1990; Advanced Studies from Gar-Field Senior High School, obtained in 1985; and attendance at Bonn American International School from 1978 to 1981. Additionally, they have obtained certifications from FinOps Foundation, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and Pink Elephant, respectively, in 2019, 2016, 2014, and 2008.
