Joy Zhou

VP, Clinical Development at Terns Pharmaceuticals

Joy Zhou is the Vice President of Clinical Development at Terns Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Zhou is an experienced leader with almost 20 years of clinical research, development and operational experience in China. She has a deep knowledge of clinical development and the regulatory environment in China gained from both multinational and local organizations and an excellent track record in building and leading clinical teams throughout the drug development cycle. She is an expert in clinical strategy, trial design and clinical operations tailored to the regulatory requirements and local medical practices in China. Joy comes to Terns from Xinhua Hospital Clinical Research Unit, where she was Chief Operations Official for four years, leading the research unit and recruiting its staff. Prior to her work at Xinhua Hospital, she served for six years as Pfizer’s Director of Vaccine Research, for five years as a Regional Medical Monitor with Wyeth, and for two years as Clinical Project Lead with Aventis and Sanofi-Aventis. Prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Zhou was an attending physician and resident physician for nine years with Xinhua Hospital.

Joy received her M.D. from Shanghai Second Medical University in Shanghai, China and her bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine from Tongji Medical University in Wuhan, China.
