John has over 50 years of full-scope mining engineering experience. Holding B.Sc. (Hons.) and a M.Sc. degree in Management Science, John has served as a Miner, Shift Boss, Engineer, Vice President, President, Executive Advisor, and Consultant.
John has significant mine construction and operations management experience including mine decommissioning. He has industry-leading uranium mining experience, allied to many other minerals including gold, potash, coal, iron ore, copper and oil sands. John has provided leadership of complete study cycles, pre-feasibility to bankable. He has similar experience in environmental baseline studies, through assessment and licensing processes.
John has previously held executive positions with Cameco (Vice President, Engineering 1982 - 1995), Cigar Lake Mining (President 1995 - 2001), and Areva Resources (Executive Vice President 2002 - 2010). Recent clients include Areva Resources and Rio Tinto Exploration Canada.
John has parallel capacity with First Nations and Metis relationships, organizational development and leadership training. John has had Board Appointments with Saskatchewan Research Council, Golden Band Resources, and Mindoro Resources. He has related industry experience as a Regional Chair, Peer Reviewer, and Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Mining, and is former President of the Saskatchewan Mining Association. In 2005, John was awarded APEGS's Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Award.
