Steve was first enchanted by the siren song of the sea while growing up on the shores of Prince Edward Island, Canada. During his first career with the Canadian Armed Forces, Steve trained as an Air Combat Systems Officer and was chosen to fly as a Tactical Coordinator (TACCO) in the medium-lift Sea King helicopter.
Over eight years, Steve accumulated 1300 flying hours, carrying out operations and rescue flying from the small decks of destroyers in the North Atlantic. His proudest career moment was being appointed as the Air Officer on the destroyer HMCS Nipigon, charged with leading a Helicopter Air Detachment. Steve then undertook advanced training in Space Operations and trained Canadian warfighters on the use of space assets in military operations.
He was also chosen to be the Canadian Liaison Officer to the U.S. Missile Defense Agency and commanded the Missile Warning Center located deep in the heart of Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs, CO. After his military career, Steve was Engineering Manager for Aspin Kemp & Associates (AKA)—developers of the world’s first hybrid tugboat.
