Dr. Simon Bechtel currently serves as Vice President of Technology at TES, where responsibilities include leading technology selection and design for eNG production hubs and developing partnerships in sectors such as electrolysis, synfuel, DAC, battery, and hydrogen storage. Prior to this role, Bechtel was Head of Upstream Technology for synthetic gas production at McKinsey & Company, focusing on sustainable chemistry and hydrogen technologies, and successfully collaborating with numerous multinational companies. Bechtel's academic background includes a PhD in Process Systems Engineering from the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems, where research emphasized energy-efficient processes for gas-phase electrolysis. Additional research experience includes a visiting scientist position at Berkeley Lab, and a master's thesis on optimizing microfluidic devices completed during a tenure at BASF SE. Educational qualifications also feature a Master of Science in Chemistry from Technische Universität Darmstadt and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the same institution.
